Ronaldinho’s Arrival in Ravenna
Ronaldinho, 46, landed by private jet at Forlì Airport, 30 km from Ravenna, around midday (1000 GMT). At the runway he signed two soccer balls for airport staff before boarding a car that took him straight to the airstrip, bypassing the handful of fans waiting on the ground.
Beach Ceremony and Presentation
Ravenna President Ignazio Cipriani, of the Cipriani restaurant brand, accompanied the player. Fans will see the star at a glitzy beach ceremony on Thursday evening, when the squad will be presented. Ronaldinho is expected to appear last, with much fanfare, and will attend a press conference beforehand.
Career and Future at Ravenna
Ronaldinho will not feature in Ravenna’s first Serie C match of the season on Monday against Reggio Emilia. It remains unclear how much he hopes to play during the campaign, though Cipriani has said it is his dream for the Brazilian to score his last career goal for the team.
He last played professionally for Fluminense in 2015, marking his second spell in Italy after featuring for AC Milan from 2008-11. Ronaldinho won the World Cup with Brazil in 2002 and the Ballon d’Or in 2005.
